For father and son duo Ian and George Carter, a shared love of camping and complimentary backgrounds made working together a natural fit. They are proud to have built a reputation on transparent and honest relationships with their valued customers and trade partners.
We both share the same values in putting the customer first and going the extra mile to ensure we’re satisfying their requirements through each stage. As a family business, the most important thing for us is knowing we have the most satisfied customers heading away on their adventures thanks to Caravan Specialists.
Ian is a key sales member of our team and also manages the majority of the workshop planning and scheduling. As the primary purchaser of our imported caravans in the UK, Ian has built a well established network of trusted contacts throughout the years. With over 25 years sales experience throughout a successful business career mostly in the automotive industry, Ian is by far the most experienced member of our team. The progression to importing caravans made sense given his shared passion of camping and road tripping with son George.
George is the other half of our sales team and is the front of our team, handling most of the customer interactions. Graduating from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Management and IT (which is put to good use helping drive the business), December 2019 bought forward an opportunity he couldn't turn down. When his father Ian proposed the idea of going into business together, George leapt at the idea and so began Caravan Specialists - providing the chance to break into the sales and business environment he so enjoys in an industry he is passionate about. When he is not helping customers, George can be found assisting our workshop manager, Jay, or completing the accounts in the office, and above all thrives on working in a business that creates a tangibly positive impact on our customers.
Jay is another highly valued and experienced member of our team who ensures all the caravans are prepared to a high standard. Jay has had three decades of experience in the motor trade starting off as a mechanic and later transitioning into tyres where he was a shop manager. This prior trade experience combined with his hobby of working on vehicles means he is sufficiently suited to work on caravans, with his standard of work being second to none.
